Eidah Bet Two 2015 / 5775

So well run

Quality of activities far surpasses other popular overnight camp for Ottawa Jewish kids and we absolutely loved how hands on the staff were in caring for the younger kids. We felt no concern that anyone would be ostracized or bullied. The set up seemed to really encourage staff engagement with kids to ensure that everyone was included and having fun at all times. Moshava also does a beautiful job of encouraging kids of different ages of developing friendships, which we loved. And we loved that the kids feel a deep connection with Israel through the Israeli staff. We also think you did a superb job of communicating with parents and of allowing us to feel very much part of the experience with daily pictures, videos, etc. Compared to the experience that our friends had sending their kids to camp for the very first time, Moshava far surpassed them all. We heard stories of children not showering or changing their clothes, others of kids being very sunburned, complaining of bullying, etc. And there never seemed to be a real confidence that the camp staff was dealing with those issues. We felt no such concern with Moshava. We were very confident that our child was very well cared for.

Thank you

Elianna’s experience at camp this summer went beyond any expectations I had at the start of the summer. It is amazing how in just 4 weeks of camp she has grown so much in her appreciation of Shabbat, knowledge of Jewish “Heros” as well as a feeling of independence.

When talking to her about life at camp, Elianna turned to me and said that she thinks Camp has made her feel prouder to be a Jew. When I asked her what her favorite activity was at camp, she responded to my surprise, Chinuch. She even wants to buy a siddur (just like the ones at camp, because it seems everything is the best at camp). She of course loved the other activities like Horseback Riding, Teva, Arts and Crafts, the Swing, Swimming and of course Shekem. For the last month any time we went anywhere or did anything it was always the pool was much better at camp, the pizza was the best there …

She loved her Counselors and I was impressed with them as well when I met them on visiting day. I could clearly see the kesher that they had with my daughter. She referred to Keshet as her substitute Mom at camp.

I found the communication from the camp to be excellent, from the email alerts regarding bad weather to the first Friday call from her Rosh Eidah reassuring me that she was having a blast at camp as well as scouring the many pictures for a glimpse of my daughters smile and what the campers were up to, the videos were great as well.

Thank you for providing Elianna with such a great summer full of wonderful memories. She keeps telling her sister how great camp is and now her sister wants to go to camp too. She is looking forward to another great summer next year, b”h.

Wishing you a Shana Tova

Rosh Eidah Bet 2

Hi guys! My name is Arielle Wasserman, and I am so beyond excited to be Rosh Eidah Bet Two this summer! I’m Thornhill born and bred, and I’m currently at Osgoode Hall Law School. I started going to Moshava when I was 9 years old, and 13 summers later I’m still going strong. For all you math whizzes out there, I have spent 69 weeks in Moshava—that’s more than a year. Honestly, I wish it was longer. I’ve done almost everything—camper, specialist, counselor, sgan, Rosh Eidah and now Rosh Eidah again! Guess you can say I’m pretty well rounded! Bet Two is really an amazing eidah, filled with overnights and night tochniot and academies and trips! I had such a good time doing it the first time that I just had to do it again. My personal favorite is the overnight—nothing better than bonfires and smores! I can’t wait to get to know each and every one of you. I just know that Bet Two this year is going to be off the walls—how can it not be with a group as great as you? On that note, I really want to get all of your input on how to make this summer as amazing as possible. My email is arielle.wass@gmail.com— if you have any thoughts, questions, suggestions, or you just want to schmooze, please get in touch! It’s going to be an unbelievable summer—let the countdown begin!
